About The Position

The EH&S Specialist - Safety will report to the Director of Safety. This is a safety-focused role with additional responsibilities to provide environmental support on a periodic basis. Growth opportunities are heavily influenced by a willingness to become proficient in broad Environmental, Health and Safety roles. Special focus will initially be placed on leading enterprise-wide safety training efforts, managing safety management system documents, and engaging with field-based EHS representatives. The role involves coordinating bi-weekly sharing sessions, understanding operational safety challenges, and collaborating on solutions. The specialist will provide enterprise-wide support to assigned assets, participate in and lead strategic programs and projects, and coordinate Safety Leadership Committee meetings. They will act as a conduit for incidents, near misses, Good Catches, and Stop Work Expectations, managing them from response to corrective action and closure using the Novara system. In support of field EHS representatives, the role includes performing field visits, assessments, inspections, training, and project management, while providing guidance and assistance to field operations and leaders. The specialist will assess safety needs, systematically address identified issues, and collaborate on creative solutions. They will contribute to and influence team priorities, seek others' ideas, and foster trust through relationship building and mentorship in safety and environmental matters. Recommendations will be made after anticipating work/project requirements and considering business impact and risks.

Requirements

3 to 5 years of experience working directly for an oil and gas operator with safety and environmental responsibilities is strongly preferred.
Strong working knowledge of all computer tools including Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Co-Pilot, Business Intelligence Dashboards and metrics is required.
Must be able to present EHS training topics in an engaging manner, based on experience presenting in front of large groups
Be an ASP, CSP, CHSO or have a safety certification, or be in the process of becoming certified. At a minimum, must be willing to seek safety credentials, preferably a CSP.
Basic understanding of oil and gas operations, equipment nomenclature and typical usage, implications for compliance with environmental, health and safety laws.
Effective project management, business writing, presentation, training and leadership capabilities.
Having both environmental and safety experience is strongly preferred.
Have direct experience with incident investigations and corrective action development.
Spill management and cleanup experience.
Have proven versatility and ability to adapt rapidly to business conditions

Nice To Haves

Experience with AI tools is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health, Safety, or related discipline is desired.
Safety-focused coursework is preferred.
Willingness to learn broad environmental and regulatory topics through immersion.

Responsibilities

Leads enterprise-wide safety training efforts. Provides effective training that engages the audience.
Leads management of safety management system documents across evolution from creation, collaboration and placement in the document management system.
Maintains a strong bias for action and engagement with field-based EHS representatives. Coordinates bi-weekly sharing sessions. Seeks to understand the safety challenges of operations and works collaboratively to develop solutions.
Provides enterprise-wide support to assigned assets, participates and leads selected enterprise-wide strategic programs and projects.
