This role is crucial for leading EHS, Security, and Metalsa Operating Systems (MOS) within the plant.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing (automotive preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in leading a department/team in a manufacturing environment required.
  • 5+ years of experience in Operating systems, Operating Ways from Toyota Production systems or similar.
  • 5+ years of experience in the field of health, safety, and/or security preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in Forming, Assembly, Welding Environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of 29 CFR-General Industry (OSHA) Standards and Workers’ Compensation laws required.
  • 1st Aid/CPR qualified preferred or can acquire within 3-6 months after hire date.
  • 1st Aid/CPR trainer certification or can acquire within 3-6 months after hire date preferred.
  • Training or Public Education Courses preferred.
  • Union Experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Automotive manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience in Forming, Assembly, Welding Environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 5-7 safety professionals in the development and execution of onsite Security and EHS Systems.
  • Lead the Safety Engagement Team.
  • Participate in new hire safety and health orientations.
  • Assist in developing and implementing accident prevention and safety incentive programs.
  • Lead the “Problem Solving” Activity in Unsafe Conditions and Safety Incidents.
  • Assist in developing and implementing policies, standards, programs, and the Digitalization Strategy for data generation and trend analysis.
  • Bring a Continuous Improvement Mindset to the EHS Department.
  • Identify new technologies to improve work areas from a safety perspective.
  • Evaluate process risks by understanding technology and manufacturing processes (Forming, Welding, Assembly, Ecoat).
  • Foster safety communications on all shifts and provide rapid response to safety concerns.
  • Participate in collaboration meetings with Metalsa Central Areas to adopt or provide feedback on new practices.
  • Participate in collaboration meetings with Union Members.
  • Conduct mandatory safety and compliance training on shift.
  • Monitor and assist in the Safety Center.
  • Participate in short, mid, and long-range planning.
  • Facilitate monthly Emergency Response Team meetings.
  • Conduct compliance audits according to OSHA and other local, state, or federal laws.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with Environmental Management System ISO 14001 standards.
  • Recommend compliance abatement methods to area managers and coordinators.
  • Work with the Maintenance Department to correct workplace hazards.
  • Attend professional development courses as required.
  • Foster cost-saving ideas and process cost-saving ideas within the safety center and plant-wide.
  • Monitor medical supplies and forms in the safety center, re-order/re-stock as needed.
  • Lead a team of 1-2 MOS Specialists in the development and execution of Practices.
  • Lead the Adoption of MOS Practices in the Plant (Operating Way).
  • Lead Assessments and Roadmap Creations in the Plant.
  • Identify Benchmark Opportunities of Operating ways from OEMs such as Toyota.
  • Participate in Continuous deployment of MMS (Metalsa Maintenance tools) in Assembly, Ecoat, and Forming.
  • Collaborate with the Forming Team to design the Maintenance Systems Roadmap/Strategy from scratch.
  • Collaborate with the Forming Team in the Obsolesce Strategy of our Equipment.
