About The Position

The EHS, Security & Metalsa Operating Systems (MOS) Manager will be a key leader responsible for overseeing and driving the development and execution of both onsite Security and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Systems, as well as Metalsa Operating Systems (MOS) Practices. This role involves leading teams of safety professionals and MOS specialists, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards like OSHA and ISO 14001, fostering a continuous improvement mindset, and identifying new technologies to enhance workplace safety. The manager will also be crucial in implementing and deploying MOS practices, conducting assessments, and collaborating with various internal departments and union members to optimize manufacturing processes across forming, welding, assembly, and Ecoat areas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing
  • 5+ years of experience in leading a department/team in manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years of experience in Operating systems, Operating Ways from Toyota Production systems or similar
  • Knowledge of 29 CFR-General Industry (OSHA) Standards and Workers’ Compensation laws

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in automotive manufacturing
  • 5+ years of experience in the field of health, safety, and/or security
  • 5+ yrs of experience in Forming, Assembly, Welding Environments
  • 1st Aid/CPR qualified or can acquire within 3-6 months after hire date
  • 1st Aid/CPR trainer certification or can acquire within 3-6 months after hire date
  • Training or Public Education Courses
  • Union Experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 5-7 safety professionals in the development and execution of onsite Security and EHS Systems
  • Lead the Safety Engagement Team
  • Participate in new hire safety and health orientations as required
  • Assist in developing and implementing accident prevention and safety incentive programs
  • Lead the “Problem Solving” Activity in the Unsafe Conditions, Safety Incidents etc.
  • Assist in developing and implementing policies, standards, programs and the Digitalization Strategy to facilitate data generation for Trend Analysis etc
  • Bring a Continuous Improvement Mindset to the EHS Department
  • Identify new technologies that can be introduced to the facility to improve the Work Areas from a Safety Perspective.
  • Evaluate the risks in our process by deeply understanding Technology and the Manufacturing Process that we have in the Plant (Forming, Welding, Assembly, Ecoat etc)
  • Foster safety communications on all shifts and provide rapid response to team member safety concerns
  • Participate in Collaboration meetings with Metalsa Central Areas to adopt or provide feedback of new practices
  • Participate in Collaboration meetings with the Union Members in the Facility
  • Conduct mandatory safety and compliance training on shift as required
  • Monitor and assist in the Safety Center as needed
  • Participate in short, mid, and long-range along-ranges planning
  • Facilitate monthly Emergency Response Team meetings
  • Conduct compliance audits according to OSHA, or any other local state or federal law
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with the Environmental Management System ISO 14001 standards
  • Recommend compliance abatement methods to area manager(s) and coordinators
  • Work with Maintenance Department to correct identified and newly discovered workplace hazards
  • Attend professional development courses as required
  • Foster cost saving ideas and process cost-saving ideas within the safety center & plant-wide
  • Monitor medical supplies and forms in the safety center, re-order/re-stock as needed
  • Additional responsibilities as required – this position is subject to change as the needs of the department change degree in health and safety
  • Lead a team of 1-2 MOS Specialists in the development and execution of Practices
  • Lead the Adoption of the MOS Practices in the Plant (Operating Way)
  • Lead the Assessments and Roadmap Creations in the Plant
  • Identify Benchmark Opportunities of Operating ways coming from OEMs such as Toyota
  • Participating in Continuous deployment of MMS (Metalsa Maintenance tools) in Assembly, Ecoat and Forming
  • Collaborating with Forming Team to design the Maintenance Systems Roadmap/Strategy from Scratch
  • Collaborate with the Forming Team in the Obsolesce Strategy of our Equipment
