About The Position

The EHS Program Manager is responsible for leading and managing Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and to support operational excellence and a strong safety culture across the organization. This role will partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Facilities, Manufacturing, and R&D teams to proactively identify risks, implement effective controls, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is a proactive safety leader with strong technical expertise, regulatory knowledge, environmental compliance experience, and the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization. Experience with EHS management systems such as Gensuite, VelocityEHS, and Enablon is highly preferred.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Cal/OSHA regulations, EPA environmental regulations, risk assessment methodologies, and EHS management systems.
  • Demonstrated experience leading incident investigations, regulatory audits, environmental inspections, and corrective action programs.
  • Experience using EHS software platforms such as Gensuite, VelocityEHS, Enablon, or similar systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to influence and drive a proactive safety culture across all organizational levels.
  • Experience with hazardous waste management, wastewater programs, air emissions compliance, and environmental permitting.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification preferred.
  • Experience managing complex EHS and environmental compliance programs in manufacturing, medical device, R&D, or high-technology environments preferred.
  • Experience supporting medical devices, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, or regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of laser safety, radiation safety, electrical safety, confined space, and fall protection programs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage site EHS programs to ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA, EPA, AQMD, DTSC, CUPA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve safety programs, policies, procedures, and standards across the organization.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Facilities, Manufacturing, and R&D teams to integrate EHS requirements into daily operations and new projects.
  • Drive proactive safety initiatives focused on hazard recognition, risk reduction, incident prevention, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct and oversee incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and follow-up activities.
  • Manage site safety metrics, KPIs, leading and lagging indicators, and prepare management reports and presentations.
  • Lead risk assessments, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), ergonomic evaluations, and safety reviews for new equipment, processes, and facility changes.
  • Manage and oversee critical safety programs, including: Laser Safety Program, Radiation Safety Program, Electrical Safety / Lockout-Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space Program, Work at Height / Fall Protection Program, Hazard Communication and Chemical Safety, Contractor Safety Program.
  • Lead environmental compliance programs, including hazardous waste management, wastewater compliance, air emissions permitting, stormwater compliance, chemical inventory management, and environmental reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental permits, inspections, recordkeeping, and reporting requirements for agencies such as EPA, AQMD, DTSC, and local regulatory authorities.
  • Coordinate and support environmental audits, inspections, corrective action tracking, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Manage EHS management systems and digital platforms, including Gensuite, VelocityEHS, and Enablon, for incident tracking, inspections, audits, corrective actions, compliance reporting, and KPI management.
  • Coordinate and lead regulatory inspections, audits, and compliance assessments, including corrective action tracking and closure.
  • Support emergency response planning, fire/life safety systems, evacuation drills, and business continuity efforts.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees, contractors, supervisors, and management.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through employee engagement, coaching, communication, and leadership visibility.
  • Collaborate with HR and occupational health resources on injury management, return-to-work programs, and workers’ compensation cases.
  • Support operational excellence initiatives by integrating EHS considerations into business growth, expansion, and process improvement activities.
  • Mentor and support EHS coordinators and other team members to strengthen overall department capability and performance.
