About The Position

This role is responsible for overseeing environmental, health, and safety (EHS) functions, with a significant focus on facilities management, waste water treatment, environmental operations, and employee safety. The position requires a proactive approach to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and company policies, while also managing budgets, contractors, and internal resources to maintain a safe, efficient, and compliant work environment. The role involves a blend of strategic planning, operational oversight, and hands-on management to support production operations and minimize environmental impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in environmental and safety field
  • 5+ years in Environmental and Safety Engineering
  • 1+ years management experience
  • Facilities operational management
  • Working knowledge of U.S. environmental and safety regulations
  • Experience maintaining ISO9001 and ISO14001 compliance
  • Working knowledge of REACH, RoHS, EICC and SA8000 standards
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Able to balance financial, safety and environmental objectives
  • Audit experience in safety and environmental areas
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills and ability to comprehend and communicate at a high level with Senior Managers, customers, distributors, and regulatory agencies
  • Ability to anticipate and handle multiple priorities and complex/abstract issues involving external and internal priorities
  • Ability to excel in a cross-organizational, cross-cultural, global team environment

Responsibilities

  • Manage all physical plant functions including construction activity, round-the-clock maintenance of facilities and equipment, security systems, custodial and grounds keeping services.
  • Work with Senior Management to determine, provide and maintain the infrastructure needed to achieve conformity to product requirements and target cost. Infrastructure includes buildings, workspace and associated utilities.
  • Provide input for the facilities budget and monitor expenses.
  • Ensure facilities meet all codes and safety requirements.
  • Maintain facility records.
  • Monitor the cleaning of both general and process areas.
  • Manage the facility access/security systems and issues.
  • Manage outside contractors/vendors and internal resources to complete approved projects on time and within budget.
  • Ensure compliance to local and government Standards.
  • Maintain system efficiency for waste water treatment and filtration systems to ensure continuous support of production operations.
  • Maintain chemical and supply inventory for waste water treatment to ensure high productivity at lowest cost.
  • Ensure immediate and effective response to alarm conditions in waste water treatment to minimize negative impact.
  • Coordinate with corporate EHS to maintain compliance with Federal, State and Local Regulations.
  • Coordinate with corporate EHS for regulatory updates, new standards and customer requirements, ensuring requirements are understood and communicated to the organization.
  • Develop and maintain the Dallas budget for environmental and regulatory operations.
  • Coordinate with corporate EHS to ensure CTS maintains an Environmental Management System compliant to ISO14001 standard.
  • Coordinate self-declaration with corporate EHS department.
  • Coordinate with corporate EHS to ensure reporting requirements are met on time for various agencies including EPA, Texas Department of Health, TCEQ, TWDB, DOT, Dallas Water Utilities, City of Dallas, Air Emissions, Water Quality, and Fire Department.
  • Manage and maintain compliance, in conjunction with corporate EHS, for hazardous and non-hazardous waste including chemical and waste handling, waste definitions and classifications, waste minimization and recycling, packaging, labeling, and manifesting waste shipments, disposal management, generator categories and corresponding regulations, waste accumulation and corresponding requirements, and container and tank management.
  • Manage and maintain air quality compliance, including air quality permits and facilities emissions, and permit by rule exemptions.
  • Review and approve process impact on all new product development (PDP) and continuous improvement projects.
  • Work with Process Engineering to define process requirements and develop operating procedures.
  • Work with corporate EHS to ensure all company environmental policies and procedures are in place and current and training is developed and available as required.
  • Serve as an Internal Auditor to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, international standards, customer requirements, company policy, procedures and practices.
  • Coordinate with corporate EHS department for compliance with current regulations including the EICC SA8000 standard.
  • Support and coordinate corporate EHS training, emergency planning, coordination, response and reporting.
  • Support corporate directives for maintaining in good operating condition fire suppression systems, building security, emergency eye wash and shower stations, first aid cabinets and spill response media.
  • Support corporate directives for emergency policies and procedures for emergency evacuation, tornado alert, chemical spill, security and contingency plan.
  • Support Contract Review process by reviewing to ensure the proper requirements are stated (if the requirement is checked – ROHS, REACH, PRO 65, etc.).
  • Conduct Management Review annually to identify Environmental Aspects and establish objectives and targets to prevent negative impact.
  • Develop annual budgets.
  • Develop, pursue, and achieve goals.
  • Update reports and indices on time.
  • Use Process Value Chain methods for process improvements and cost reduction.
  • Document and communicate suggestions for continuous improvement.
  • Use problem solving and GAP analysis to identify root cause and effective solutions.
  • Support special projects as required.
  • Submit project reports and recommendations to upper Management.
  • Ensure timely and consistent communication with coworkers and department teams.
  • Complete all injury reporting to insurance carrier and State agencies in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all injured employees receive authorized satisfactory medical care.
  • Conduct accident investigations promptly and make recommendations in a timely manner.
  • Ensure injured employees who incur lost time return to work in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all injured employees who have work restrictions return to regular work in a timely manner.
  • Maintain employee medical records properly.
  • Attend scheduled training, follow the site EHS procedures and Corporate EHS standards, including the use of proper protective equipment (PPE) as required by the job responsibilities.
  • Ensure that all safety and environmental procedures are followed consistently, risk assessments are performed, proper training and work instructions are provided, required PPE is available, and compliance is monitored.
  • Execute and maintain the ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 and/or other applicable standards that may apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
  • Maintain a quality work environment that is safe, clean, organized and environmentally compliant.
  • Maintain Quality Work Environment housekeeping standards for own work area and community areas.
