About The Position

As an Environmental Health and Safety Engineer, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding the health and safety of employees, the community, and the workplace environment. On a day-to-day basis, you will lead the development, implementation, and management of safety programs, conduct workplace hazard assessments, and ensure adherence to health and safety regulations and Intel standards. Your expertise will drive compliance, mitigate risks, and foster a safe and sustainable work environment that supports Intel's operational excellence. This role is part of Intel's Environmental Health and Safety organization, which focuses on creating and maintaining safe and sustainable workplace environments across Intel's global operations. The team is dedicated to ensuring regulatory compliance, minimizing environmental impacts, and fostering a culture of safety and wellbeing. By supporting Intel's broader goals, this group plays an integral role in advancing responsible and sustainable business practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, engineering or other relevant sciences with 4+ years of professional experience in EHS management in the same field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in: Proficiency in workplace hazard evaluation techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks and standards related to EHS.
  • Conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, engineering or other relevant sciences with 4 plus years of experience with conducting field assessments, technical analysis and communicating requirements within industrial hygiene and safety disciplines.
  • Experience with conducting exposure assessments, chemical evaluations, job hazard analysis, process hazard analysis, and other technical analysis.
  • Experience working in semiconductor manufacturing, other advanced manufacturing and/or technology development.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor teams, fostering a culture of safety and compliance.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify and address EHS challenges effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across teams and engage employees in safety initiatives.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional safety programs and driving continuous improvement in EHS practices.
  • Passion for promoting a safe and sustainable workplace environment.
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist and / or Certified Safety Professional.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage industrial hygiene and safety programs to ensure compliance with local, regional, and Intel standards.
  • Conduct workplace hazard evaluations to recognize, evaluate, and control potential risks.
  • Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, and create corrective action plans to prevent future occurrences.
  • Monitor workplace environments and assess environmental factors or stresses that could impact employee health or community wellbeing.
  • Maintain accurate records of employee exposure to hazardous waste and pollutants as required.
  • Prepare and deliver training programs focused on workplace safety and hazard prevention.
  • Stay updated on changes to EHS regulations and industry practices to ensure ongoing compliance and best practices.
  • Provide industrial hygiene and safety support for process equipment procurement by reviewing/validating supplier equipment meets SEMI S2 and S8, semiconductor industry standards.
  • Provide industrial hygiene and safety design support for equipment and facilities installations in partnership with factory stakeholders.
  • Provide industrial hygiene and safety technical support for foundry process technologies including new introduction of chemicals or new process equipment.
  • Conduct high quality and detailed risk assessment for manufacturing equipment and facilities. Provide appropriate recommendations for health and safety controls, engineering and/or administrative, to address identified risks.
  • Collaborate with EHS TFSM module owners to enable health and safety improvements in Intel's factories.
  • Support health and safety cross site teams as the Ocotillo site representative.
