This role monitors the practices of Dan River Combined Cycle and Rockingham Combustion Turbine to facilitate compliance with company and/or regulatory policies and requirements in order to mitigate risks. It involves serving as single-points-of-contact and/or coordinator to implement environmental activities that require broad knowledge and experience to provide compliance solutions to environmental issues. The position supports basic work activities to comply with environmental regulations and corporate requirements, and develops, implements, and maintains programs, systems, and procedures. It also monitors and prevents EHS incidents and hazards, investigates incidents and/or complaints, and provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice. The role participates in and supports EHS compliance and management system audits. Additionally, it involves researching, developing, and/or evaluating programs, policies, or activities within the assigned discipline, solving a range of problems, and developing solutions using standard-moderate procedures. This includes interacting with subject matter experts and customers to ensure consistent and thorough implementation of environmental programs, policies, and procedures. The role assists with providing information/consultation to management/assigned customers on existing environmental programs and policies, develops and conducts administrative and development functions, including special projects, employee training, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance programs. It also provides regulatory-required and internal environmental reports, serves as an intermediate expert for advanced technical programs and compliance issues, and supports the company’s environmental or safety goals, strategies, programs, and processes. With some assistance, the incumbent develops and maintains procedures and programs to assist facilities in complying with environmental laws and regulations, and helps advanced teammates ensure that Duke Energy work procedures address compliance guidance. The role also assists with tracking basic regulatory changes, legislative activities, and industry standards, and helps advanced teammates identify needed changes to facility’s compliance programs. With appropriate leadership guidance, they may assist with working with federal, state, and local regulatory authorities to interpret regulations and laws, and supports Duke Energy on various internal/external industry committees and teams. The incumbent continues to develop and increase knowledge of the organization, procedures, and assigned customers, and analyzes and understands intermediate-level information, past practices, and business objectives to make appropriate recommendations to management/assigned customers. The role develops positive working relationships with peers, customers, employees, and management to effectively complete work activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety or Engineering or Science or Other Related Degree
  • In lieu of Bachelor's degree(s), High School/GED AND 7 plus year(s) related work experience (for EHS Consultant)
  • Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety or Engineering or Science or Other Related Degree AND 6 years Minimum related work experience (for Senior EHS Consultant)
  • In lieu of Bachelor's degree(s), High School/GED AND 10 plus year(s) related work experience (for Senior EHS Consultant)
  • Must possess all of the basic/required qualifications.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities
