About The Position

Kids On The Move (KOTM) is seeking a caring, engaged temporary substitute to support its Early Head Start classrooms. The program serves infants and toddlers from birth to age 3 in a safe, supportive, developmentally appropriate environment. The substitute provides hands-on classroom support, guides children through interactive play and learning experiences, helps maintain a safe and clean classroom and playground, and collaborates with teachers to support children’s growth, confidence, curiosity, and developmental skills. The temporary position runs through February 26, 2027, and may be extended through July 30, 2027, depending on program and agency needs. Long-term assignments may be available during the temporary employment period.

Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• Obtain a Food Handler’s Certificate within 90 days of hire.
• Complete CPR and First Aid Certification within 90 days of hire.
• Pass an FBI background check upon hire and every five years.
• Pass a TB test upon hire.

Nice To Haves

• CDA with infant/toddler credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

• Engage children in age-appropriate learning experiences under teacher guidance to support school readiness.
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual needs, including those of children with IFSPs, behavioral challenges, and diverse abilities.
• Maintain positive interactions with children and use respectful, supportive guidance techniques.
• Ensure classroom safety and adhere to child-to-adult ratios at all times.
• Assist with classroom and playground cleanliness as assigned.
• Document hours accurately using the electronic timecard program.
• Support developmental and behavioral assessments for children entering the program.
