EHS Campus Manager
About The Position
The Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager helps prevent incidents and illnesses across datacenter operations by implementing high-risk-activity management processes, emergency response planning, and safety protocols. The role identifies risks and unsafe practices, implements controls to mitigate risk, and monitors performance and compliance with Microsoft standards and applicable regulations. It serves as a key safety role in delivering infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services. The position is based onsite at a Microsoft datacenter and is part of the Global Environmental, Health, and Safety Team within Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I). The role works with site leaders, employees, and contractors to support safe operations and ensure compliance. Microsoft describes its datacenter operations as focused on environmental sustainability and optimization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field, plus 2 or more years of experience in Environmental Health and Safety Worldwide Regulations, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field and 5 or more years of Environmental Health and Safety Worldwide Regulations experience; or a master's degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field and 3 or more years of such experience; or equivalent experience.
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or equivalent entry-level certification.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary contact for implementation of EHS programs at specific Microsoft datacenters.
- Inspect, audit, conduct workplace risk and exposure assessments, and review safe work practices to ensure compliance with regulations and Microsoft policies.
- Support incident investigations and root cause analysis, and help identify, communicate, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor, interpret, and communicate summaries of standards and regulatory requirements to support compliance and proactive risk management.
- Analyze safety metrics and communicate results to leadership to drive action and accountability.
- Work with leaders, staff, and contractors at all levels to implement effective solutions.
- Present topical information and metrics regularly to site leadership teams.
