About The Position

The EHR Application Specialist develops and implements new training materials, schedules, and solutions to enhance the understanding and utilization of the EHR/PM/EDR system and other platforms. This role involves close collaboration with multiple departments and management teams to coordinate training initiatives. The specialist supports the EHR Manager in various projects, including EHR upgrades, interface design, template evaluations, and the implementation of new systems. Daily maintenance and configuration of ancillary tools such as telehealth, lab and medication interfaces, specialized portals, and the patient portal are key responsibilities. The position also includes conducting audits to ensure maximum EHR utilization and proper system functioning, participating in upgrades and workflow improvement projects, and supporting operational, nursing, and clinical management with workflow design. Regular audits of EHR system usage are performed to ensure appropriate use, with documentation of audits, follow-up, and retraining. The role requires timely response to helpdesk tickets and adherence to protocols. Collaboration with Data Analytics, quality teams, nursing, operations, and medical providers is essential to meet quality of care standards like Patient Centered Medical Home and UDS through the EHR system. Safety standards must be followed in all aspects of the job, including reporting unsafe equipment and attending safety education.

Requirements

  • Experience with EHR/PM/EDR systems.
  • Experience with system configuration and daily maintenance.
  • Experience conducting audits.
  • Experience with workflow design and improvement.
  • Experience responding to helpdesk tickets and following protocols.
  • Knowledge of Patient Centered Medical Home and UDS standards.
  • Ability to follow safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Works with multiple departments and management teams to coordinate training that supports an increased understanding of the EHR/PM/EDR system and other platforms.
  • Supports EHR Manager with the implementation of projects such as EHR upgrades, interface design, template evaluations, and new systems.
  • Performs system configuration and daily maintenance for ancillary tools like telehealth, lab and medication interfaces, specialized portals, and patient portal.
  • Conducts audits to ensure EHR maximization and proper system functioning.
  • Participates in the implementation of upgrades, software patches, interfaces, and workflow improvement projects.
  • Supports operations, nursing, and clinical management with workflow design and improvement.
  • Conducts regular audits on EHR system usage to ensure appropriate usage.
  • Maintains documentation of audits performed, along with necessary follow-up and retraining.
  • Responds to helpdesk tickets or calls in a timely manner and follows helpdesk protocols.
  • Works with Data Analytics, quality team, nursing, operations, and medical providers to ensure that Patient Centered Medical Home, UDS, and other quality of care standards are met with the EHR system.
  • Follows safety standards in all aspects of performance, reports/removes unsafe equipment, and attends safety education sessions.
