Job Summary: To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a 1st shift EHS Technician located in Coopersville, MI. Reporting to the EHS Engineer, the EHS Technician role is responsible for supporting environmental, health, and safety programs across the production facility to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations while promoting a safe and healthy work environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and general safety practices preferred
  • Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills

  • Associate’s degree or coursework in Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Safety, or related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) operations within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Navigate, interpret, and apply MIOSHA (Michigan OSHA) and federal OSHA regulations to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Support compliance with EGLE (Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy) environmental requirements and agency expectations.
  • Maintain accurate EHS documentation, including permits, logs, inspection reports, training records, incident documentation, and regulatory reports.
  • Participate in EHS-related meetings, including those focused on environmental compliance, safety programs, training initiatives, and employee awareness.
  • Track, document, and support regulatory audits, inspections, and agency visits; maintain inspection records and corrective action follow-up.
  • Conduct and document routine safety, environmental, and regulatory inspections, including: Fire extinguishers and fire prevention equipment, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) systems, Spill kits and spill response readiness, Hazardous and non-hazardous chemical storage and inventory, Emergency eyewash stations, and first-aid supplies.
  • Perform monthly safety and environmental walks, document findings and track corrective and preventive actions.
  • Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and work practices to ensure compliance with safety.
  • Assist with accident and incident investigations, including determining contributing factors related to equipment, fixtures, machinery, or work practices, and identifying prevention strategies.
  • Investigate health-related employee complaints and inspect facilities to ensure compliance with public health regulations.
  • Collaborate with engineers and leadership to implement controls and remedial actions for hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions or equipment.
  • Maintain and update emergency response plans and procedures; support emergency drills and response preparedness activities.
  • Exercise stop-work authority when activities pose an immediate threat to employee health or safety, in accordance with company policy.
  • Support proper handling, preparation, packaging, labeling, storage, and disposal of hazardous, mixed, and non-hazardous waste in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Support Safety Data Sheets (SDS) management.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of PPE requirements; monitor proper PPE selection and usage across operations.
  • Support environmental and sustainability initiatives, including: Collecting sustainability and utility data (gas, electric, water, waste, recycling), Assisting with sustainability metrics and reporting (preferred).
  • Deliver EHS training, including: New-employee health and safety orientations, Staff training on EHS policies, procedures, and safe work practices, Supervisor training on Incident Awareness and Analysis, Demonstrations of proper safety equipment and PPE use.
  • Attend technical briefings and presentations related to projects, schedules, or process changes that impact EHS risk.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with production, facilities, engineering, medical, and leadership teams to embed safety into operations.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through coaching, employee engagement, and consistent floor presence.
  • Apply strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and safety awareness in all EHS activities.
