About The Position

This role involves working cohesively with the EHS team and management to achieve task and project goals. Key responsibilities include maintaining the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) library, ensuring environmental compliance with local and state regulations, and promoting safety compliance through investigations, monitoring, training, and audits.

Requirements

  • Ability to work cohesively with EHS team and management.
  • Knowledge of local and state environmental regulations.
  • Understanding of RCRA/hazardous waste management regulations.
  • Familiarity with Clean Air Act, RCRA, and DOT reporting requirements.
  • Experience with air monitoring for contaminants like Hexavalent chromium.
  • Proficiency in performing fit-testing for respiratory protection.
  • Experience with routine inspections of safety equipment (emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, hoists, eyewash stations).
  • Ability to conduct compliance audits and implement corrective actions.
  • Experience in conducting safety meetings and training.
  • Familiarity with industry standards for safety and environmental compliance.
  • Ability to encourage a culture of safety and hazard recognition.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the SDS library by adding new chemicals and replacing outdated sheets.
  • Enforce local and state environmental regulations.
  • Assist in record keeping and scheduling for Clean Air Act, RCRA, and DOT reports.
  • Assist in scheduling and manifesting hazardous waste shipments.
  • Train and direct employees on RCRA/hazardous waste management regulations.
  • Maintain the record keeping database for compliance documents.
  • Perform compliance audits on the shop floor.
  • Handle hazardous waste/materials as needed.
  • Assist in compliance audits with state and federal officials.
  • Investigate indoor/outdoor air quality complaints.
  • Schedule appointments for chromium and respiratory physicals.
  • Perform air monitoring for Hexavalent chromium or other contaminant exposures.
  • Label and sign appropriate hazards and chemical reactants.
  • Perform fit-testing for respiratory protection program.
  • Perform routine inspections for emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, hoists, and eyewash stations.
  • Audit internal programs for effectiveness and compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct routine compliance inspections and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform routine safety meetings and training activities.
  • Participate in Safety Committee meetings.
  • Maintain data and direct trainings/programs to comply with industry standards.
  • Work with employees to encourage a culture of safety and hazard recognition.
