About The Position

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) Manager is responsible for providing technical guidance on environmental, health, and safety initiatives while driving the development and implementation of the plant’s safety management systems. This role plays a critical part in fostering a strong safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and partnering with plant leadership to protect employees, the community, and the environment while supporting operational excellence.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field OR demonstrated ability to meet the job requirements through a comparable number of years of applicable work experience.
  • 5+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements (including CNESST or similar industrial safety standards)
  • Experience with incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general technology tools
  • Bilingual-French and English proficiency required
  • Ability to meet performance metrics and support operational goals
  • Strong collaboration skills with production and operations teams

  • Professional certification (CSP, ASP/GSP, CRSP, CRST, or similar)
  • Experience leading cross-functional safety initiatives or committees
  • Project management or continuous improvement experience
  • Strong facilitation and training experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Proven ability to implement and improve EHS systems and processes

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the site EHS leader, providing technical guidance on environmental, health, and safety matters
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve safety management systems, including hazard identification, risk assessments, and mitigation planning
  • Partner with plant leadership to maintain a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace
  • Leads accident/incident investigations and workers’ compensation case management; identifies root causes (e.g., 5-Why) and drives corrective actions to completion.
  • Manage hazardous materials and waste programs, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and permits
  • Lead and support safety initiatives, including safety committees and annual safety planning
  • Deliver EHS training programs (PPE, LOTO, ergonomics, environmental practices, etc.) and identify ongoing training needs
  • Conduct compliance audits and ensure proper documentation, including SDS and safety records
  • Collaborate with operations teams to address safety, quality, cost, and productivity challenges
  • Serve as an on-call EHS contact as needed
