EH&S Manager
About The Position
Flex is hiring an EH&S Manager to join its team in Austin, Texas. Reporting to an EH&S Manager, this role provides immediate supervision to a group of employees responsible for implementing complex activities related to the efficient management of Environmental Health & Safety programs in offices and manufacturing sites. The position ensures that applicable company and government standards and regulations are met. The EH&S Manager oversees programs through subordinate supervisors, administers budgets and schedules, provides employee direction and training, and works with supervisors, customers, and functional peer managers. The role also contributes to workforce recruitment and retention and recommends policy changes affecting subordinate organizations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent EH&S experience.
- Knowledge of related regulations, codes, and guidelines.
- Seven years of previous EH&S experience.
- Three or more years of managerial experience.
Nice To Haves
- Safety certifications.
- Experience with Texas/OSHA and environmental regulations.
- Experience with risk assessments, MOC, contractor EHS oversight, and support for ISO 14001/45001 audits.
Responsibilities
- Manage, through subordinate supervisors, coordination of EH&S programs in offices, manufacturing sites, and plants, controlling results in terms of costs, methods, and employees.
- Develop and administer budgets, schedules, and performance requirements.
- Conduct meetings involving environmental safety, training, and awareness programs.
- Oversee proper maintenance of buildings, furniture, and fixtures in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Direct employees according to established policies and management guidance; advise units or sub-units and get involved as needed to meet schedules or resolve problems.
- Establish and recommend policy changes affecting subordinate organizations.
- Interact frequently with subordinate supervisors, customers, and functional peer group managers.
- Present technical information concerning specific projects and schedules.
- Manage budgets and schedules for moderately complex EH&S activities, including contract labor, equipment, and material costs.
- Train staff on changes to policies and procedures.
- Implement HR strategies and actions to recruit and retain a qualified and motivated workforce.
