About The Position

The University of Wisconsin-Madison's Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (RSP) is responsible for the administration of extramural research grants and contracts. RSP manages a portfolio of over $4 Billion with annual awards exceeding $1 Billion. The Effort Compliance Manager will oversee the payroll compensation compliance reporting process at UW-Madison to ensure full reporting compliance. This includes verifying that commitments to sponsors were met, ensuring grants were not overcharged, and confirming the completion of certification and training requirements in accordance with UW-Madison compensation compliance policy and procedures. The role involves close collaboration with campus constituents such as Faculty, PIs, Certifiers, College/School dean's offices, Department Chairs, Department Administrators, Department Compensation Compliance Coordinators, University leaders, and RSP leadership, as well as external partners like vendors and sponsors.

Requirements

  • Five years of experience in Research Administration

Responsibilities

  • Assists principal investigators, researchers, administrative staff, leadership, and others to ensure institutional compliance with applicable regulations (35%)
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates policies and procedures related to compliance with federal, state, local, and/or university regulations (10%)
  • Supports UW-Madison's technical system needs related to effort management, including effort reporting system operations, project management, and system upgrades (10%)
  • Serves as a key resource to campus regarding research administration compliance areas and may supervise staff (35%)
  • Ensures institutional compliance related to audit coordination, conflict of interest, intellectual property, institutional review boards, export controls, effort, or other policies (10%)
