About The Position

Under limited supervision, the Educator uses intermediate skills obtained through experience and training to conduct educational tours for adults, students and organizations (public and private).

Requirements

  • Knowledge of fundamental concepts, principles and practices of Arab American, Ethnic and Middle Eastern history and current events
  • Skill in operating standard office equipment and using required software applications for program area and other applications, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to partner with other functional areas to accomplish objectives
  • Ability to develop and deliver public presentations
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies and identify and recommend changes as appropriate
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Middle Eastern Studies/Arabic or related field
  • At least one to two years working as an educator

Nice To Haves

  • Experience of working with children/students is preferred
  • Any equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training approved by Human Resources

Responsibilities

  • Conduct educational tours at the museum
  • Prepare presentations and educational materials for educators and students including presentations on the history and contributions of Arab Americans
  • Conduct presentations regarding the Arab American culture both onsite at the Museum as well as other locations (schools, community events, conferences, etc.)
  • Assist with the implementation of youth programs and may lead on some programs
  • Research information regarding various exhibits and present to audiences as appropriate
  • Schedule and coordinate museum visits
  • Establish and maintain contact with various clientele requesting museum tours including schools, teachers and various civic organizations
  • Maintain records of visitors including payment and invoicing information
  • Assist as needed with reviewing grant content and ensuring requirements are met
  • Assist as needed with gathering information for grant reporting and writing reports for various grants
  • Plan events to increase the number of visitors to the museum
  • Operate standard office equipment and use required software applications
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
