Audubon Nature Institute comprises Audubon Park, Audubon Zoo, Audubon Aquarium, Audubon Insectarium, Audubon Louisiana Nature Center, Freeport-McMoRan Audubon Species Survival Center, Audubon Center for Research of Endangered Species, Woldenberg Riverfront Park, and Audubon Wilderness Park. Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Experience working with or around children.
Flexible availability during holiday weeks, evenings, and/or weekends.
Experience working in a formal or informal learning environment.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Biology, Zoology, Communications, Ecology, Environmental Education, or other related field.
Demonstrated experience delivering nature or conservation based educational content.

Responsibilities

Deliver engaging informal and interpretive programming to campers, families, students, and general visitors.
Supervise children ages 4-17.
Assist program coordinators/supervisors in the supervision of youth and adult volunteers.
Assess and coordinate supplies and physical space needed for programs.
Prepare for, set up, and deliver educational programs following established lesson plans and guidelines.
Provide guided facility tours to program participants.
Follow established departmental and organizational policies and procedures.
Collaborate with other Learning and Engagement staff members.
Provide proactive, friendly communication and strive to anticipate guest needs and desires.
Communicate issues or concerns to the Learning Supervisor, or program Manager on Duty, in a timely manner.
Work in a cooperative manner with the animal care team and respect the Ambassador Animal collection spaces, protocols, and equipment.
Provide program feedback and evaluations utilizing established methods.
