About The Position

St. Mary School is a parish-supported Catholic school dedicated to educating the next generation of innovative thinkers and ethical leaders. We offer a rigorous education that celebrates diversity, individuality, and academic excellence, while instilling sound ethical and moral values through passionate teachers who lead by example. Located in Aberdeen, WA, St. Mary School has an opening for a part-time Religion Instructor for the 2026-2027 school year. This position is ideal for candidates with experience in Catholic Religion instruction and working with a wide age range of students in a classroom setting.

Requirements

  • Practicing Catholic (Required)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Religion instruction practices/curriculum and Catholic Social Teachings and the ability to implement
  • Extended experience working with and instructing elementary aged children
  • Evidence of ability to interact collaboratively with students, parents, and administration.
  • Evidence of excellent oral and written skills.
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to complete the Seattle Archdiocese’s Safe Environment Training
  • Clear a Washington State Background Check

Nice To Haves

  • Associates and/or Bachelor Degree, a plus

Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with the school’s Lead Religion teacher
  • Assists with instructing students in the Catholic faith utilizing the approved Religion curriculum
  • Adapts curriculum to the needs of the students with varying intellectual abilities, and accommodates a variety of instructional needs.
  • Evaluates each student’s faith knowledge growth, performance, and understanding in relationship to the level being taught; communicates with homeroom teacher individual student progress.
  • Follows Policies and Procedures as set forth by school administration and the Archdiocese of Seattle.
  • Provides a clean, safe, faith-filled and nurturing classroom environment.
  • Participates in staff meetings as needed
  • Maintains appropriate records for students
  • Establishes and maintains standards for acceptable student behavior using appropriate classroom management techniques
  • Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills; shares expertise with others
  • All other duties as assigned
