About The Position

In alignment with Gift of Life Michigan’s core purpose and core values, the Educator, Donation Support & Hospital Development is responsible for the development and delivery of education to the donation support and hospital development departments, including but not limited to competencies, orientation, specialized skills training, e-learning and module developments, record keeping and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in related field plus two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years’ teaching, training, or precepting experience.
  • Written and verbal fluency in English.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Teams, and other technology systems used in business operations.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
  • Previous Learning Management System (LMS) experience.
  • Prior experience in a healthcare organization, transplant center, or organ/tissue procurement organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and facilitate educational programs, materials, and training plans for the donation support and hospital development departments related to defined orientation requirements and ongoing competency validation.
  • Create training programs and resources using multiple mediums to accommodate virtual and in-person delivery.
  • Maintain accurate training records.
  • Conduct needs assessments to address training and skills gaps.
  • Analyze success of programs using data and metrics.
  • Collaborate with other department educators, including internal cross functional training.
  • In conjunction with department managers and preceptors, determine when new staff have successfully completed their MODII and have completed all related documentation.
  • Provide support and guidance to department preceptors and staff members.
  • Provide real-time education and guidance to staff, either in-person or via phone, on donor family interactions, obtaining authorization, and donor registry opposition.
  • Maintain proficiency in approaching, administering the DRAI and testing new workflows and initiatives by working occasional field shifts.
  • Participate in compliance, quality assurance, and performance improvement programs and initiatives.
  • Guide and support training provided through the preceptor training program.
  • Identify and integrate external training resources, as needed.
  • Provide internal-cross functional trainings, as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
