About The Position

The Educational Treatment Assistant works at Sheppard Pratt School and Residential Treatment Center (RTC), a Maryland State Department of Education-approved Level V nonpublic school on the historic Towson, Maryland campus. The year-round therapeutic educational and residential program serves youths ages 12–18 with emotional and behavioral challenges, offering structured community and recreational activities alongside full-day special and general education schooling. In this role, you will help develop, implement, and maintain therapeutic strategies while working closely with students to support their treatment goals. You will provide structure in line with students’ Individualized Treatment Plans (ITPs) and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), support teachers with behavior intervention, treatment, and educational activities, and encourage appropriate behavior. You will also assist residential staff with students’ independent living skills and transitions from residential units to school. The stated pay range is $18.50–$22.95 per hour. Pay is determined by factors including years and level of related experience.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
To meet requirements to operate a company vehicle: be at least 18 years old with at least two years of driving experience.
Valid driver’s license.
Driving record with two or fewer points for the three most recent years of driving history.

Responsibilities

Provide students with additional structure aligned with their Individualized Treatment Plans (ITPs) and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
Support teachers as a paraprofessional educator by providing behavior intervention, treatment, and educational support.
Model, encourage, and reinforce appropriate behavior for students.
Assist residential staff in developing and reinforcing students’ independent living skills.
Facilitate effective transitions from residential units to the school setting.
