About The Position

Located on Sheppard Pratt’s historic campus in Towson, Maryland, the Sheppard Pratt School and Residential Treatment Center is an MSDE-approved, level V nonpublic school serving youths ages 12–18 with emotional and behavioral challenges. Its year-round therapeutic educational and residential program combines structured community and recreational activities with full-day special and general education. The Educational Treatment Assistant supports students’ treatment goals by helping develop, implement, and maintain therapeutic strategies. The role provides structure aligned with students’ Individualized Treatment Plans and Individualized Education Plans, assists the teacher with behavioral, treatment, and educational support, reinforces appropriate behavior, and helps residential staff promote students’ independent living skills and transition from the residential unit to school.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Be at least 18 years old and have at least two years of driving experience to meet requirements for operating a company vehicle.
Have a valid driver’s license.
Have a driving record with two points or less for the three most recent years of driving history.

Responsibilities

Provide additional structure to students in alignment with their Individualized Treatment Plans (ITP) and Individualized Education Plans (IEP).
Support the teacher as a paraprofessional educator by providing behavior intervention, treatment, and educational support.
Serve as a role model for students by encouraging and reinforcing appropriate behavior.
Assist residential staff in developing and reinforcing students’ independent living skills and facilitating an effective transition from the residential unit to the school setting.
