About The Position

Provide direct supervision, coaching, leadership, and operational support to educational staff including Head Start Teachers, Teacher Assistants, and Floaters to ensure the effective implementation of high-quality educational services across assigned centers. This position is responsible for monitoring classroom operations, employee performance, staff accountability, classroom management practices, and compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, organizational policies, and educational procedures. This role focuses on strengthening instructional practices, implementing performance improvement strategies, supporting professional development, and promoting operational consistency throughout the education service area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience working within an early childhood education environment, preferably within Head Start or Early Head Start programs.
  • Supervisory, coaching, leadership, classroom management, or employee performance management experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to supervise multiple classrooms and effectively support educational staff.
  • Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards, classroom operations, child development principles, reflective supervision practices, and interdisciplinary collaboration is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, ChildPlus, educational data systems, and documentation management is required.
  • Bilingual communication skills in English and Spanish are preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel between assigned centers as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support Early Head Start Teacher, Head Start Teachers, Teacher Assistants, and Floaters to ensure effective classroom operations and high-quality educational services.
  • Coordinate, prepare, and facilitate onboarding and orientation sessions for newly hired teachers, teacher assistants, and floaters related to Creative Curriculum implementation, classroom expectations, lesson planning, child development practices, and educational procedures to ensure consistency and compliance across classrooms.
  • Conduct regular classroom observations, walkthroughs, and performance monitoring to ensure compliance with program expectations, classroom procedures, and Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Provide reflective supervision, coaching, guidance, and technical assistance to educational staff based on identified classroom and employee needs.
  • Develop and implement performance improvement strategies to strengthen classroom quality, instructional practices, and employee effectiveness.
  • Monitor staff professionalism, classroom management practices, teacher-child interactions, and implementation of educational procedures.
  • Review and monitor lesson plans, classroom documentation, and educational records to ensure compliance and quality implementation.
  • Ensure classrooms maintain developmentally appropriate learning environments, materials, supervision practices, and safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including ERSEA, Health, Nutrition, Mental Health, Disabilities, Family Services, and Human Resources to support comprehensive child and family services.
  • Monitor and support completion of required screenings, assessments, observations, and child documentation requirements.
  • Support educational staff in understanding child outcomes data and implementing classroom improvement strategies.
  • Ensure implementation of individualized supports and accommodations for children with disabilities in collaboration with appropriate specialists.
  • Address classroom concerns, staffing challenges, employee performance issues, and operational needs in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support onboarding, training, mentoring, and professional development efforts for educational staff.
  • Conduct team meetings and maintain effective communication with staff to ensure alignment with organizational goals and educational expectations.
  • Promote positive relationships with families and support family engagement initiatives when required.
  • Participate in case conferences, interdisciplinary meetings, monitoring reviews, and organizational improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure accurate implementation of systems related to attendance, child files, documentation, timekeeping, classroom records, and reporting requirements.
  • Monitor classroom supply needs, learning materials, and operational resources to support classroom effectiveness.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, employees, and organizational information.
  • Fulfill mandatory reporter responsibilities in accordance with child abuse and neglect reporting requirements and organizational policies.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the organization’s mission, vision, values, and service philosophy.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by supervisors that are reasonably within the scope of the position.
