About The Position

Assists in the daily program operations of the School Of Cinematic Arts (SCA) Production Center by performing routine administrative and technical tasks as assigned. Assists with maintaining the SCA equipment inventory through routine counts, inspections, cleaning, and testing to ensure all equipment is fully operational for check-in and check-out. Coordinates equipment maintenance and repairs with external technicians or manufacturers. Provides routine support for film and digital video projects by assisting with the preparation of (COI) Certificates of Insurance, permits, tracking clearances, and helping to organize equipment for location shoots. Assists in the delivery of digital video production workshops and provides basic technical support to faculty and students during production courses. Performs fiscal support tasks, such as tracking procurement receipts, documenting the receipt of goods, and the reconciliation of funds. Assists in the preparation of routine purchase requests and helps gather information for bid specifications in compliance with applicable rules and regulations. Advises and guides students on selecting, operating, and troubleshooting digital cinema equipment for film and media projects. Assists with supervising, scheduling, and training student staff to uphold operational efficiency and quality customer service. Assist in opening and closing procedures of the production center and sound studio. Maintains an organized, clean, and hazard-free storage and customer service area in compliance with safety standards and operational guidelines. Ensure compliance with UH policies, safety procedures, and proper equipment handling guidelines across daily operations. Works flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as necessitated by programmatic events. Performs duties offsite or travels to alternative locations as needed to support program operations and events. Frequently moves items weighing up to 50 pounds for program operations. Requirements

Possession of a baccalaureate degree in film, digital media, or related field and 0 years of professional experience with responsibilities for cinematic or digital video production or cinematic or digital video equipment management and/or reservation systems or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of professional cinematic and/or digital video production demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts and terminology.
Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with cinematic and/or digital video production, including production permits and clearances.
Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range of routine problems that may commonly occur in the area of production center operations, equipment maintenance, and/or student lab environments.
Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations with students, faculty, and staff.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer, apply word processing software, and apply basic media production software.
Familiarity with the operation of digital, and/or film cameras, as well as basic grip, lighting and sound equipment.
Strong organizational, customer service and communication skills.
Knowledge of the safety requirements and proper handling procedures for various types of equipment.
Ability to work evenings, weekends and/or holidays, and/or at off-site locations.
Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull and move equipment of up to 50 pounds independently or with assistance, or utilizing appropriate methods (e.g., carts, dollies, or team lifts).
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to travel independently to various geographical locations in a timely manner.
Requirement may be fulfilled by a valid Hawaii Driver's license (class 3), comparable driver's license, or other means of transportation, which meets position needs.
Proficiency with Google Drive.

Nice To Haves

MFA or advanced degree in Film, Media Arts or a related field.
Experience with inventory management, tracking, order processing, and scheduling.
Practical experience assisting with television, cinematic, or digital media productions.
Experience with inventory, management, order processing, and scheduling.
Proficiency in professional media software such as AVID, ProTools, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop.
Working knowledge of Sony Digital Cinema cameras.
Working knowledge of lighting systems, including Arri, Kino-Flo, and Nanlite.
Working knowledge of sound devices and sound equipment.
Experience working with film crews, understanding production timelines, set etiquette and knowing how to efficiently source and distribute equipment.
