About The Position

University of Hawai‘i, Kapi‘olani Community College, Paul S. Honda International Center is seeking applications for the Educational Specialist - Outreach Coordinator (Casual) position. This is a temporary position, with casual hire appointments lasting up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees. Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits provided to regular employees, such as paid holidays and leave. The position is funded by Revolving Funds, and continuation is dependent on satisfactory performance, program needs, and renewal of funds.

Requirements

  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Business Administration, Communications, New Media Arts, Marketing, or related field and 0 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for marketing, social media outreach; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
  • Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of marketing, social media outreach demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology.
  • Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with marketing and social media outreach.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer, apply word processing software.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the area of marketing and social media outreach.
  • Demonstrated experience in video editing, with proficiency in Final Cut Pro.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to or executing strategic branding campaigns.
  • Proficiency in utilizing Canva and the Google Workspace suite for creative and administrative tasks.
  • Experience creating engaging multimedia content and managing official brand accounts across major platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook.
  • Experience in the functional design, layout, and maintenance of websites.
  • Experience managing, optimizing, and publishing content on YouTube.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced technical proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Experience leveraging AI technology and translation tools to support international globalization, localization, or cross-language marketing initiatives.
  • Hands-on experience operating professional video and photography equipment.
  • Proven experience conducting on-camera interviews and directing talent for video productions.

Responsibilities

  • Directs daily operational workflows to ensure the consistent, high-quality, and timely delivery of multimedia content across all digital platforms.
  • Spearheads the Paul S. Honda International Center’s (HIC) social media strategy; designs, schedules, and publishes targeted content that advances international education objectives and strengthens brand messaging.
  • Crafts compelling narratives across various digital formats to effectively communicate Kapi’olani CC’s vision, global initiatives, and student success stories to a diverse audience.
  • Partners closely with campus departments to co-create engaging video assets, graphic designs, and digital resources for institutional websites, social channels, and promotional campaigns.
  • Utilizes advanced writing, editing, and video production skills, alongside interactive design principles, to blend text, audio, and visual footage into high-impact digital media.
  • Ensures all dynamic creative output strictly aligns with the HIC’s mission, core messaging, and institutional visual standards.
  • Manages and continuously optimizes the HIC webpage in close coordination with the HIC Unit Head and the Kapiolani CC Webmaster.
  • Promotes campus-wide globalization efforts by leveraging creative messaging and publishing regular updates via the Kapi’olani CC Daily News.
  • Develops strategic promotional and recruitment materials tailored to attracting prospective international students.
  • Compiles and designs comprehensive campus reports on international education trends and achievements for both internal stakeholders and external audiences.
  • Other duties as assigned.
