About The Position

The Reynoldsburg City Schools’ Educational Paraprofessional (DPIA) is responsible for small group high dosage tutoring in math and reading at a basic K-12 educational level. The position performs a variety of duties, offering assistance and support to the staff in carrying out the objectives of the educational program in the school, and performs related duties as assigned. This position is funded by Disadvantaged Pupil Impact Aid and is contingent upon continued funding from the state.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Possession of a valid State of Ohio Educational Aide Permit.
  • A valid ESEA (Highly Qualified) credential (requires Associate Degree, 48+ semester hours, or a passing score of 456+ on the ParaPro Assessment within 60 days of hire or transfer).
  • Experience working with students and teachers on academic content standards.
  • Experience working with students and teachers on grade level proficiency tests.
  • Successful completion of BCI & FBI criminal background checks.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with K-12 students across multiple grade bands in a structured academic intervention environment.
  • Prior experience delivering targeted, data-driven reading or mathematics intervention programs.
  • Familiarity with district-specific student data-tracking software and educational technology tools.

Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted small group high dosage tutoring sessions to K-12 students in the areas of mathematics and reading.
  • Assist students and collaborate with teachers on building understanding of academic content standards across a K-12 continuum.
  • Perform oral reading exercises to students individually or in small groups to support literacy development and fluency.
  • Offer explicit academic assistance and support to students as they prepare for grade level proficiency tests and academic monitoring.
  • Support certified staff and teachers in carrying out the day-to-day objectives of the school's educational program.
  • Interact with students across various grade levels to maintain discipline, order, and resolve general classroom disciplinary problems.
  • Handle challenging or escalating behavioral situations in a calm, controlled, and effective manner using district-approved de-escalation protocols.
  • Assist students with various physical and intellectual needs to ensure proper access to instructional materials.
  • Maintain accurate student records, progress logs, attendance sheets, and tutoring reports as required by DPIA funding directives.
  • Exercise absolute tact and discretion when communicating with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and support staff.
  • Set up, clean up, and organize specialized instructional learning spaces, including handling instructional materials and boxes of supplies.
