About The Position

Brookside Charter School is a tuition-free public charter school serving Pre-K through 8th-grade students in Kansas City Public School (KCPS) boundaries. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree
Missouri Teaching Certificate or eligible for certification.
Proficiency in Google Suite.
Candidate will be a passionate advocate for students and Brookside Charter’s mission.
Candidate will have a deep internal passion for ensuring that students meet and exceed academic standards regardless of socioeconomic status, race, previous academic performance, or other challenges.
Candidate must have a desire to work in an urban school environment with the purpose of closing the achievement gap.

Responsibilities

Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to provide a safe environment for students.
Exhibit professionalism in all situations and ensure that classroom practices align to district policies and school procedures.
Build and maintain relationships with teachers, administrators, and students’ families with an eye toward working cooperatively to help students meet academic and other goals.
Monitor the progress of students and identify students with learning needs.
Plan and implement researched-based instructional practices that result in increased student performance.
Guide the learning process toward the achievement of clear learning goals and communicate these goals to students.
Employ a variety of instructional techniques, including media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
Create positive relationships with students, teachers and administrators.
Confer with and seek assistance from teachers, parents and school administrators regarding possible interventions for students who need additional support.
Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, school policy, and administrative regulation.
Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
