Brookside Charter School is a tuition-free public charter school serving Pre-K through 8th-grade students in Kansas City Public School (KCPS) boundaries. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Missouri Teaching Certificate or eligible for certification.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite.
  • Candidate will be a passionate advocate for students and Brookside Charter’s mission.
  • Candidate will have a deep internal passion for ensuring that students meet and exceed academic standards regardless of socioeconomic status, race, previous academic performance, or other challenges.
  • Candidate must have a desire to work in an urban school environment with the purpose of closing the achievement gap.

Responsibilities

  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to provide a safe environment for students.
  • Exhibit professionalism in all situations and ensure that classroom practices align to district policies and school procedures.
  • Build and maintain relationships with teachers, administrators, and students’ families with an eye toward working cooperatively to help students meet academic and other goals.
  • Monitor the progress of students and identify students with learning needs.
  • Plan and implement researched-based instructional practices that result in increased student performance.
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of clear learning goals and communicate these goals to students.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques, including media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  • Create positive relationships with students, teachers and administrators.
  • Confer with and seek assistance from teachers, parents and school administrators regarding possible interventions for students who need additional support.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, school policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
  • React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
