About The Position

Princeton Staffing Solutions is seeking an Educational Interpreter – American Sign Language (ASL) for a school-based contract position in Silverdale, WA. This role involves providing 1:1 support for elementary and middle school students who are deaf or hard of hearing. The interpreter will facilitate communication and educational access, convert voice to sign language and vice versa, and perform non-instructional signing activities. The position is for the 2026-2027 school year, with approximately 32.5 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Requires School Based experience as an American Sign Language Interpreter (or Educational Interpreter) working with Deaf/Hard of Hearing Students
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED
  • Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) with a minimum score of 4.0 and a passing score on the EIPA written test OR National Interpreter Certification (NIC) from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), and a passing score on the EIPA written test
  • Additional state-specific requirements may apply

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate fluency in American Sign Language to interpret and communicate effectively with the student and staff
  • Interpret sign language for deaf students and voice for the student when needed
  • Facilitate communication and educational access for deaf and hard of hearing student(s)
  • Perform non-instructional signing activities; convert voice to sign language and vice versa
  • Provide specially designed instruction as needed
  • Execute accurate, timely, impartial, and effective signing, including strong receptive skills to understand rapidly signed communication
  • Apply principles, practices, and techniques of interpreting for deaf and hard of hearing individuals
  • Utilize educational interpreting vocabulary and concepts in a school setting
