About The Position
Casual Educational Assistants (EAs) are needed on an "as needed" basis to support children in various schools and grade levels. This role involves working with children who require specialized assistance. The position offers a pay rate of $16.75 per hour.
Requirements
- Ability to physically perform the requirements of the position.
- A desire to work with children and youth.
- Respect for confidentiality and privacy protocols.
- Sensitivity and respect for diversity.
- Must successfully complete a Child Abuse Registry Search.
- Must successfully complete a Criminal Record Check, including the vulnerable sector.
Nice To Haves
- Post-secondary training in human services or a related field is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Work at various schools and at various grade levels.
- Demonstrate understanding of the role and responsibility of an EA.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the stages of child/youth development.
- Demonstrate an awareness of, respect, sensitivity, and awareness of similarities/differences for children with special needs.
- Demonstrate knowledge of health, hygiene and safety including personal/physical care and the safe transfer of students.
- Demonstrate understanding of behaviour management.
- Demonstrate knowledge of basic computer applications and technology.
- Demonstrate awareness of assistive technology.
- Ability to work collaboratively with members of a team.
- Ability to follow instructions of teachers and school administrators.
