About The Position

This is a temporary position with hours of 7.0 hours per day, two days a week, shared between the Rochester and Oakville School District. The position description is subject to change by the employer as the needs of the employer and the requirements of the job change. This role involves supporting certificated staff in speech therapy sessions, supervising students, performing clerical duties, assisting with instruction, and providing social/emotional and behavioral support. The position also requires teaching basic life and social skills, and performing all student care jobs including hygiene, lifting, and personal care. All work must be conducted safely and in compliance with district policies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Seventy-two (72) college quarter credits and/or AA required and/or completion of ETS test.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow directions and to follow through efficiently and independently on assigned tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist students in gaining social, academic and self-help skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge and ability to operate computers.
  • Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with individualized or small group speech therapy sessions under the supervision of certificated staff.
  • Supervise students in hallways and the lunchroom.
  • Perform clerical duties as needed.
  • Assist with instruction as needed.
  • Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information.
  • Participate regularly in staff meetings, in-service programs, workshops, and seminars.
  • Conduct all work in a safe manner and comply with district policies and procedures.
  • Provide social/emotional and behavioral support for students.
  • Teach students basic life skills and social skills information.
  • Perform all student care jobs including student hygiene, lifting, and personal care.
