About The Position

To inspire and prepare each and every student with the confidence, courage and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning by supporting student services in due process. Assist the special education teacher in the operation and function of the classroom, and to work with individual or small groups of students as directed by and under the supervision of the special education teacher. Facilitate due process of special education meetings and reports. Responsibilities for Due Process ESP and tasks include: Coordinates due process for the special education team Assist in the implementation of the students' special education instructional plan(s) including physical and behavioral management. Specific duties are assigned by the supervising teacher based on students' special needs. Assist in the implementation and follow through of the students' individual plans in all settings in which the program is delivered and as assigned by the supervising teacher. Collect observational data about assigned student(s) in various school settings and report to supervising teacher. Assist in the preparation, collection and maintenance of educational materials and equipment. Assist staffings, conferences and any other special meetings as requested by supervising teacher. Complete educational forms, reports and other student related data relevant to the individual student(s) in the special education program as directed by the special education teacher. Any other duties deemed necessary by the team and approved by the Special Education Coordinator Special Education Supervisor. Schedule IEP and referral meetings. Data entry of IEP's and transportation requests. Responsibilities for Recess/Lunch include: Students go outside for recess unless raining, or the weather is colder than -5 degrees. Supervise students. Circulate throughout the entire play area during recess. Responsibilities for Special Education ESP and tasks include: This person selected for this positon must be willing to assist with and/or lead in providing assistance in the restroom for students who need assistance or changing of diapers. The person selected may need to be able to assist students on/off of recess equipment. Assist students with academics, physical education, music education, and/or to participate in the general education classroom. All of the aforementioned would be under the direction of a teacher for the subject.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Skills needed to perform tasks and work with children, staff and parents.
Physical capability to lift and attend to physical needs of students as required.
Participation in district training program prior to and during employment.
