About The Position

The Recess Supervisor Paraprofessional ensures a safe, structured, and positive outdoor recess environment for students at both the intermediate and middle school levels. This position supports school operations by providing consistent supervision during high-traffic, unstructured times of the day, allowing certified staff to focus on instruction, planning, and student support.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to supervise large groups of students in an outdoor environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to remain calm, consistent, and responsive in a variety of situations.
• Ability to stand, walk, and actively supervise outdoors for extended periods.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions (within district guidelines).
• Strong focus on student safety and supervision.
• Positive, proactive approach to student interactions and redirection.
• Reliability and consistency.
• Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate with school staff.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with children in a school or youth setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Actively supervise students during designated recess times to ensure safety and appropriate behavior.
• Monitor multiple areas of the playground, maintaining clear visibility and movement throughout assigned zones.
• Proactively engage with students to promote inclusive play and positive interactions.
• Teach & Reinforce school expectations and behavior guidelines in a consistent and respectful manner.
• Respond to minor incidents, conflicts, or injuries and refer concerns to administration as needed.
• Communicate effectively with school staff regarding student concerns or patterns of behavior.
• Assist in maintaining orderly transitions to and from recess.
• Support adherence to school safety procedures and emergency protocols.
