About The Position
This position serves as both an Educational Assistant (6 Hours) and a Special Education Assistant (0.75 Hours) at Free Orchards Elementary School. The role involves providing educational support to students under the direction of licensed staff, with a specific focus on supporting Individual Education Plans for special education students. Responsibilities include supervising students in various settings, monitoring for safety concerns, and assisting with the implementation of Behavior Support Plans. The position follows a 10-month calendar, including winter break, spring break, and summers off. Internal classified employees are not eligible to apply during their probationary period. Highly Qualified Applicants must meet specific educational or assessment requirements and attend mandatory safety training.
Requirements
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- Proficient oral and written communication skills in English
- Proficient in the use of computer and Internet based applications, including but not limited to email and systems applications
- Hold a valid certificate in a District approved student intervention system or be able to obtain in 60 days
- Experience working with children
- Highly Qualified Status Required (two years of post-secondary education or an associates (or higher) degree; or District approved academic assessment)

- Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred (bilingual is defined as fluency in reading, writing and speaking in two languages as determined by District screening tool)
