About The Position

Under the direction of the Innovation Station Regional Director, this role is responsible for designing and delivering mutually beneficial programs between the UF Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering and Sarasota region citizens, industry, and academic collaborators, with a focus on workforce development. Key activities include establishing training opportunities through UF offerings, outreach to community members, facilitating industry engagement in engineering design programs, and connecting regional entrepreneurs and companies with UF College of Engineering students, faculty, and academic offerings. The position also involves working with the Innovation Station Industry Programs Coordinator to design and deliver programs focused on creating an engineering talent pipeline, introducing UF technology opportunities, providing access to UF prototyping facilities, and matching community research needs with College of Engineering expertise. The role requires representing the UF Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering in engagements with regional stakeholders, tracking activities and outcomes, preparing reports, and supporting the planning of future goals and metrics. This is a time-limited position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, independent judgment, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders, communications, deadlines, and follow-up activities are required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft and Adobe applications is also expected.

  • Candidates should understand engineering disciplines and their connections to industry, as well as the culture and expectations of higher education, including accreditation and student learning outcomes.
  • Prefer Master’s/Bachelor’s Degree in engineering including computer science and information technology, academic administration or appropriate field, along with two or more years of appropriate work experience in engineering fields including computer science and information technology or academic administration.
  • Work experiences with small to large companies, entrepreneurs, investors, community support organizations and academic institutions are highly desired.
  • Experience with special groups such as minorities and women will also be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver mutually beneficial programs between the UF Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering and Sarasota region citizens, industry, and academic collaborators focused on workforce development.
  • Work with regional private, public, and academic sectors to establish training opportunities through UF offerings.
  • Conduct outreach at local institutions to the community’s citizens.
  • Establish avenues for regional companies to engage in engineering design programs offered by UF.
  • Provide means for regional entrepreneurs, companies, and executives to engage with UF College of Engineering students, faculty, and academic offerings.
  • Design and deliver mutually beneficial programs between the UF Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering and Sarasota region industry.
  • Work with the regional community to establish an engineering talent pipeline to serve existing and new companies in the region.
  • Introduce UF technology opportunities to the regional entrepreneur and investor communities.
  • Establish access points to UF prototyping facilities and expertise from the Gainesville campus.
  • Provide a conduit to match the community’s research and technology needs with College of Engineering researcher expertise and infrastructure.
  • Represent the University of Florida Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering in engagement with regional private, academic, and public sector stakeholders.
  • Track activities and outcomes and assemble regular reports and present to stakeholders.
  • Support planning and presentation of goals, objectives, and metrics for activities in upcoming years.
  • Liaise with program supporters regularly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
