About The Position

This position develops, prepares and conducts education programs. The Education Specialist/Programs role is part-time and falls under the Conservation Education Department. The primary function is to create and deliver educational programs, including those for schools, after-school and weekend family programs, outreach initiatives, and overnight events. A key responsibility involves handling and presenting Animal Ambassadors to program participants. The role also includes providing leadership and guidance to seasonal education staff and taking on head teacher responsibilities during summer Zoo Camp programs. Other duties as required are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, zoology or related field
  • One to two years’ experience in conservation and/or informal education or related field
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer software programs
  • Presentation skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Valid Pa driver’s license
  • FBI Clearances
  • Act 33 and 34 clearances
