About The Position

Provide a variety of support services for migrant students and their families who are enrolled in the Migrant Education Program – Migrant Regional Service Center - Region I, 2026 Migrant Summer School. The candidate must be able to work with a linguistically and culturally diverse group of students and parents.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with the technology used in the migrant summer school, and migrant students and their families
  • Able to provide instruction (ELA/STEM) from a mobile classroom
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Able to work closely with a team
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to work with parents, students, teachers and all SBCSC/MRSC/Region I staff
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills – editing, spelling, and use of proper grammar
  • Excellent technology skills preferred – complete knowledge of Google Suite
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to learn SBCSC and Migrant Education Program policies and procedures
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and work as a team
  • Ability to exercise tact and discretion when dealing with students, parents, and staff
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding staff and student information
  • Extensive experience working with the following tech tools: Drones, 3-D printers, Ollies, Spheros, Rovers, etc.
  • Must be able to teach others how to use the tech tools.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out the policies and procedures of the South Bend Community School Corporation and the Migrant Education Program/Migrant Regional Service Center – Region I
  • Assist teachers and students with classroom instruction as needed regarding the use of technology
  • Work with MRSC IT staff in managing technology and troubleshooting technical issues
  • Compose correspondence to families as needed by the Site Administrator or Director and maintain correspondence file
  • Work with MRSC Family Outreach Specialist to access student/family information and assist with student/family requests as needed
  • Collaborate with Region I staff and/or Site Administrator to secure facilities for parent/student meetings
  • Assist in registration for the Migrant Summer School (when applicable)
  • Help direct students and parents to the Migrant Family Outreach Specialist to access support services
  • Develop positive and supportive relationships with migrant students
  • Attend all MRSC staff meetings and/or meetings held by Site Administrator
  • Participate in professional development activities as determined by Director
  • Manage development of projects as assigned and complete other duties as assigned
  • Must be able to handle and help move boxes of supplies as needed
