About The Position

The Education Programs Manager provides leadership and management of the Department’s education programs, including Family Medicine, Postgraduate, Enhanced Skills, and Midwifery. You oversee program planning, delivery, and evaluation to ensure alignment with departmental priorities, accreditation standards, and institutional policies. Key responsibilities include directing change initiatives, advising on educational policies, managing budgets and resources, and ensuring compliance with reporting and accreditation requirements. You also develop communication strategies, represent programs on committees, and collaborate with stakeholders to strengthen program quality and responsiveness. Overall, the position combines strategic oversight, program development, financial stewardship, and accreditation compliance to advance the Department’s educational mission.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Education.
  • Minimum of six years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, develops, and delivers the Department’s education programs, including the Family Practice residency program, the Midwifery undergraduate program, and the Bridging (IEBMP) program.
  • Ensures program offerings, systems, and organizational practices align with the Department’s strategic priorities.
  • Champions and directs change management initiatives to address emerging educational needs and enhance the quality and responsiveness of education programs.
  • Advises on the program’s educational policies, processes, and protocols; partners with the MDUP program to administer the Family Practice component of the MD programs.
  • Develops the education portfolio’s communications strategy, exercising sound judgment to ensure messaging enhances awareness of program opportunities and developments.
  • Collaborates closely with the Department Communications Manager to safeguard the integrity, clarity, and impact of all education-related communications.
  • Identifies and responds to evolving program priorities by leading the design and development of existing programs to meet educational goals.
  • Identifies gaps or areas of non-compliance in educational programs, particularly in areas with an accreditation risk.
  • Develops comprehensive plans within defined timeframes to address deficiencies.
  • Reviews, develops, and revises educational policies and procedures for the Department’s residency, Midwifery undergraduate, and IEBMP programs.
  • Ensures alignment with institutional policies and departmental vision.
  • Holds primary responsibility for educational program budgeting and resource planning, including financial oversight, reporting, and decision-making on resource allocation.
  • Reviews and authorizes financial transactions in accordance with budget expenditure and University policies and guidelines.
  • Leads the preparation, review, approval, and submission of required reports and documentations for education programs, ensuring all standards are met and that reporting reflects the quality and scope of departmental education programs; ensures accreditation standards and requirements are met.
  • Represents the department’s education programs on relevant committees and in institutional meetings, advocating for program needs and contributing to broader academic planning.
  • Maintains current knowledge of accreditation standards.
  • Performing other leadership and related duties as required and necessary.
  • Directly manages CUPE 2950 and AAPS educational programs staff.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, managing, developing, and terminating.
