About The Position

Fresh Start is a non-profit organization in Phoenix, AZ, dedicated to empowering women to achieve self-sufficiency and thrive. For 30 years, they have provided comprehensive services in family stability, health and well-being, financial management, education and training, and careers. They serve women aged 18 and older, helping them transform their lives and positively impact their families and communities. This position is for an engaging and dynamic Education Instructor to facilitate workforce training programs for women in fields such as Banking & Finance, Trades, and Advanced Manufacturing. The role involves delivering an established curriculum, fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom, and equipping participants with essential professional and job readiness skills for sustainable career pathways. The ideal candidate will have experience in adult learning, be confident in classroom facilitation, and be passionate about empowering women through education and workforce development. Subject matter expertise or a willingness to develop it, strong communication, adaptability, and the ability to motivate and hold participants accountable are crucial.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in teaching, training, or facilitation (preferably in adult education or workforce development).
  • Strong classroom management and facilitation skills with the ability to engage diverse learners.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, virtual learning platforms, and the ability to support students in navigating online training systems and basic technical tools.
  • Ability to simplify complex topics and present them in an accessible, engaging way.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in Education, Workforce Development, or related field) or 4 years of adult education facilitation
  • Experience or familiarity with any of the following industries: Banking & Finance, Trades, Construction, or Advanced Manufacturing industries.
  • Experience supporting individuals with barriers to employment.
  • Experience with trauma-informed teaching practices.
  • Bilingual (Spanish).

Responsibilities

  • Deliver workforce training curriculum across designated programs, ensuring alignment with learning objectives and outcomes.
  • Create a supportive, engaging classroom environment where students feel comfortable participating and learning.
  • Facilitate discussions, activities, and assignments that reinforce key concepts and real-world applications.
  • Provide individualized feedback and academic support to help participants succeed.
  • Hold regular office hours and provide additional assistance to students as needed.
  • Administer assessments in accordance with program requirements.
  • Build strong relationships with participants to encourage retention, accountability, and program completion.
  • Monitor student progress and provide coaching and resources to address challenges or barriers to success.
  • Support participants in completing third-party technical training (e.g., OSHA-10) by maintaining accountability and engagement.
  • Foster a trauma-informed, inclusive learning environment that supports participants facing diverse life circumstances.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support and facilitate workshops on career readiness, financial literacy, and professional skills.
  • Coordinate with guest speakers and support employer engagement activities such as site visits, panels, and mock interviews.
  • Track attendance, participation, and outcomes, maintaining accurate program data and documentation.
  • Communicate regularly with program staff regarding student progress and any concerns.
