About The Position

Brock University is seeking an Education Instructor to teach ADED 3P92, Learning Disabilities in Adult Education, during the Winter 2027 term. This online course focuses on best practices in supporting and accommodating adults with learning disabilities, including relevant research and legislation in academic and workplace settings. The instructor will be responsible for instructional duties, providing academic direction and feedback to learners, developing instructional resources, assessing assignments, and administering the course using Brightspace. The role involves liaising with the Adult Education Director and Program Committee, and adhering to university policies and mandatory training requirements.

Requirements

Demonstrated subject matter knowledge and expertise related to the relevant adult education literature and the specific course content.
Demonstrated successful experience facilitating or teaching adults in an online or hybrid delivery mode, working in an LMS environment, within the last five years preferred.
Relevant professional working experience as an educator in the field of adult education, within the last five years preferred.
A relevant graduate degree from a recognized university required (MEd in Adult Education or equivalent).
Skill in using Microsoft Office 365, or similar technology resources, to support the teaching and learning process.

Responsibilities

Provide instructional duties, including a high level of academic direction, insight, and feedback to learners.
Facilitate the learning experience in an exemplary manner that adheres to current adult education principles and practices.
Demonstrate a high level of instructor presence, stimulate discussion, and foster learner engagement.
Develop engaging instructional resources (video, screencast, or podcast) that provide insight and feedback to learners on a weekly basis.
Assess and evaluate course assignments while providing meaningful and timely feedback to learners.
Use Brightspace as the primary instructional tool for online courses.
Utilize the course curriculum and provide academic oversight and input regarding the ongoing relevance and effectiveness of course resources, assignments, and assessment tools and strategies.
Liaise with Adult Education Director and Program Committee, instructors, online facilitators and staff as required.
Adhere to the requirements of mandatory training including AODA, Health and Safety Awareness Training, FIPPA, Academic Integrity and other professional development events.
