About The Position

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) is seeking an Education & Engagement Associate to provide administrative, pedagogical, and strategic support for their Education and Engagement programs. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth execution of educational and engagement initiatives, including student matinees, school-based residencies, intergenerational theatre programs, youth ensembles, masterclasses, and engagement series. The Associate will also serve as a line producer for the Youth Artistic Instigators ensemble, manage communications with partners, write blog content, update web pages, assist in event material design, create educational materials, lead workshops, support the teaching artist roster, identify community partners, attend meetings, assist with program evaluation, and coordinate department supplies. The position reports directly to the Director of Education and Community Engagement.

  • Experience working with youth in educational settings and/or non-traditional settings.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative, pedagogical and strategic support for NYTW Education and Engagement programs, including Learning Workshop's student matinees and teaching artist school-based residencies, the Mind the Gap intergenerational theatre program, the Youth Artistic Instigators program, masterclasses, and the For the Culture engagement series.
  • Serves as line producer for the Youth Artistic Instigators ensemble, managing logistics, scheduling, artist coordination, and program execution across the season.
  • Maintains effective communication with educational and community partners, including artists, teaching artists, partner school staff, faculty and students, and community-based leaders and organizations.
  • Writes blog content for the NYTW Blog, highlighting Education and Engagement programs, events, and partnerships.
  • Supports updates to NYTW's Education and Engagement webpages, ensuring accurate and current program information.
  • Assists in the design and production of For the Culture event materials, including calendars, talkback inserts, and panelist assets.
  • Assists with the creation of educational and engagement materials, curriculum, and lesson plans.
  • Leads or co-leads theatre education workshops as needed.
  • Observes and assists teaching artists and workshop facilitators in classrooms as needed.
  • Supports the management of NYTW's teaching artist roster, including teaching artist hiring, professional development and community-building activities.
  • Collaborates with the Education and Engagement team to identify potential community partners.
  • Attends department meetings and interdepartmental Engagement Committee meetings.
  • Assists with the documentation, assessment and evaluation of all Education programs.
  • Coordinates the purchase of Education and Engagement Department supplies.
