About The Position

The Education Director is responsible for leading program quality, teacher development, and curriculum execution within the school. This role serves as the instructional leader of the building — ensuring classrooms consistently deliver a high-quality, play-based educational experience aligned to NYPKC standards and curriculum expectations. The Education Director partners closely with teachers through coaching, observations, modeling, and professional development while also helping maintain strong operational and regulatory oversight across the school. This is a full-year leadership role focused primarily on educational leadership and team development, while also stepping into classrooms as needed to support staffing, classroom quality, and operational continuity.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in ECE or a related field required
  • A NYS Early Childhood Initial or Permanent Certification (B-2 or 1-6) required
  • 3-5+ years of lead teaching experience in Pre-K (2-4 year olds) or Kindergarten.
  • At least 1 year of leadership experience required
  • Be a passionate teacher and lifelong learner!
  • Physical exam and background checks are required for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Program Quality & Curriculum Execution
  • Ensure strong implementation of Creative Curriculum and/or Tools of the Mind across classrooms
  • Maintain consistent, high-quality classroom environments rooted in play-based learning
  • Support lesson planning, classroom management, and instructional best practices
  • Partner with teachers to ensure developmental goals and learning outcomes are met
  • Coach & Develop Teachers
  • Conduct classroom observations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback
  • Support onboarding and development of new teachers
  • Help build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous growth
  • Identify opportunities for teacher development and instructional improvement
  • Support School Operations & Compliance
  • Partner with the Head of School on staffing coverage and daily school operations
  • Help ensure classrooms remain compliant with DOH and licensing requirements
  • Support classroom organization, schedules, and operational consistency
  • Step into classrooms as needed to support staffing and maintain quality
  • Partner with Families
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with families
  • Support parent communication around student development and classroom experiences
  • Help families feel connected to their child’s educational journey and school community
  • Contribute to School Culture
  • Help create a positive, professional, and team-oriented environment
  • Model emotional intelligence, professionalism, and strong leadership
  • Support a school culture where both children and teachers feel safe, supported, and challenged to grow
