About The Position

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking an Education Content Manager to support content and pedagogy quality assurance for its education initiatives, particularly those involving technology and AI. This role sits at the intersection of pedagogy, quality assurance, and content development, ensuring that educational content is pedagogically sound, contextually appropriate, and safe. Initially, the focus will be on the AI-powered teacher professional development program, aprendIA, with potential to expand to other IRC education innovation projects. The Manager will be responsible for testing digital content, troubleshooting issues, refining quality frameworks, documenting processes, and contributing to content development and adaptation for various educational programs.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in International Education or a related field (or a Bachelor's degree with equivalent additional professional experience).
  • Classroom teaching experience.
  • International experience, ideally in low-resource, crisis- or conflict-affected contexts.
  • Experience developing education or teacher professional development content grounded in evidence-based pedagogy.
  • Strong analytical skills and a demonstrated eye for detail, with the ability to test, evaluate, and troubleshoot content systematically.
  • Excellent writing skills, including the ability to produce clear, concise, audience-ready content and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and productively in a fast-paced, collaborative, cross-functional, and geographically dispersed team.
  • Ability to apply a diversity and inclusion lens to work, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills across a multicultural environment and multiple time zones.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the IRC.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong interest in, or experience with, EdTech and the use of AI in education, particularly in low-tech modalities.
  • Experience creating, adapting, or localizing content for multilingual or humanitarian contexts.
  • Familiarity with teacher professional development frameworks and classroom observation or quality instruments.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular testing of digital course flows, prompt responses, and chatbot behaviors, assessing accuracy, clarity, pedagogical alignment, and cultural appropriateness.
  • Communicate testing notes with developers and collaborate on solutions that maintain pedagogical quality.
  • Red-team digital content to identify edge cases, problematic outputs, and safety gaps.
  • Maintain clear, actionable QA logs that track issues, findings, and resolution status.
  • Synthesize findings into prioritized recommendations, distinguishing content fixes from product or design fixes.
  • Review usage, completion, and engagement data findings alongside QA findings to surface early signals of whether content is supporting teacher learning and uptake.
  • Troubleshoot content-related issues flagged by country teams or surfaced through data and program monitoring.
  • Support testing of new features, materials, and content updates ahead of release.
  • Review and quality-assure teaching and learning content and materials across TU projects, checking for pedagogical soundness, evidence alignment, and contextual fit.
  • Refine quality frameworks and rubrics for evaluating digitally delivered pedagogical content.
  • Document QA and content-development processes, criteria, and lessons learned.
  • Connect testing and QA insights to available evidence on teacher engagement, classroom practice, and learner outcomes.
  • Support senior technical and MEAL colleagues in translating content and QA insights into evaluation questions and learning agenda priorities.
  • Contribute to accessible knowledge products (e.g., blog posts, working papers, briefs) that articulate quality in technology-enabled and conventional teacher professional development.
  • Support presentations, funder updates, and partner briefings that draw on QA findings and learning across projects.
  • Adapt and apply quality frameworks and documentation practices to other TU content and teacher-support materials as requested.
  • Work alongside government, local partners, and local content creators to develop and adapt content for programs, ensuring alignment with local curriculum, global best practices, and user interface (UI) requirements.
  • Draft and refine short, structured course content for digital modalities, aligned with strategy, templates, and evidence-based pedagogy.
  • Develop one-off or thematic modules in response to identified needs.
  • Review and refine content deliverables such as quiz questions and strategy descriptions.
  • Support localization review for new cultural and operational contexts.
  • Develop and adapt teaching and learning materials for other TU teacher-support and innovation initiatives as requested.
  • Propose alternative formats through which courses and learning games can still qualify as recognized coursework while departing from conventional structures, grounded in how educators engage in low-connectivity, messaging-based, time-constrained settings.
  • Support senior technical staff in scoping and needs assessment for new deployments, contexts, and delivery modalities.
  • Provide flexible content, quality assurance, and documentation support across the Education TU and its collaboration with the Airbel Impact Lab as organizational priorities evolve.
