The Center for Development and Disability (CDD), established in 1990, is New Mexico's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service. These centers, authorized by the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act, build the capacities of states and communities to respond to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. CDD's Autism & Other Developmental Disabilities Division is recruiting to hire an Educational Consultant to serve school districts throughout NM. The successful candidate will provide consultation, technical assistance, training, and coaching in community settings including schools throughout the state for personnel involved in the education of children with autism spectrum disorder. The applicant must have grades PreK-12 special education classroom experience as well as the knowledge and the ability to select, implement and teach evidence-based practices appropriate for individuals with ASD. Board Certified Behavior Analyst certification preferred. The applicant will work collaboratively with schools as part of an interdisciplinary team to determine appropriate interventions for children with challenging behaviors and/or intensive communication needs. In addition, the candidate will research, develop, and deliver professional development trainings on-line and in-person specific to evidence-based practices including inclusion in the general education environment. This position requires extensive travel, with occasional overnight stays, throughout the state of NM.
