About The Position

This position is located in Baton Rouge, LA. This is a temporary Job Appointment that may last up to 4 years only. Office of Federal Support & Grantee Relations Job Focus Area. The Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) is seeking a detail-oriented Education Consultant 3 to join the Office of Federal Support and Grantee Relations (FSGR). This role is critical to our mission of providing high-quality guidance to Louisiana schools and stakeholders. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reviews of a variety of grant applications, assisting with the administration of the Education Excellence Fund (EEF) grant, and beta-testing applications as they are developed in the electronic grants management system (eGMS). The Education Consultant 3 work requires well-developed communication, organizational, and data analytic skills. The position’s work supports the LDOE’s Educational Priorities and the continued mission to improve all Louisiana students’ academic growth.

Requirements

  • Seven years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR Six years of full-time work experience plus four years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR A bachelor's degree plus four years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR An advanced degree plus three years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services
  • Mastery of Excel and/or Google Sheets
  • Experience working with the electronic grants management system (eGMS)
  • Strong reading skills
  • Proficiency with data cleaning and analysis techniques
  • Prior experience with federal grants and state educational programming (K-12 or Higher Education)
  • Familiarity with federal/state accounting and audit procedures
  • Familiarity with reporting requirements for K-12 Federal Formula Education Grants
  • Decoding of Federal Grant Awardee Letters
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Collaborative mindset for interdepartmental projects

Nice To Haves

  • Background in finance, statistics, educational research, computer science, accounting, or related data-driven fields.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the agency’s work in the accurate, timely reporting of grant financial data.
  • Communicate deadlines and reporting requirements to various stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on data collection and analysis.
  • Analyze and clean data sets to be formatted for uploading into various databases.
  • Employ time management skills to maximize multiple project completions.
  • Evaluate data and applications for errors or inconsistencies.
  • Maintain accurate and complete files with annotations of communications to correct errors or clarify data, and support the FSGR team with projects and tasks as directed by the supervisor.
