About The Position

OpenDor Media is hiring a full-time Education Associate, to support the growth and implementation of the Unpacked Scholars program, a national teen initiative focused on Jewish identity, Israel, and belonging. Unpacked Scholars, an Unpacked Teens program, develops intellectually sophisticated and emotionally attuned young Jewish leaders by fostering nuanced, courageous engagement with Jewish identity and Israel, equipping teens with the shared language, critical thinking skills, and peer leadership capacity to elevate the Jewish conversation in their schools and communities. As a core member of the team, you will facilitate transformative educational experiences, help design and refine curriculum, and build authentic relationships with teens across the country. This is a highly interactive, travel-based role ideal for a dynamic educator who thrives in front of students, is energized by big ideas, and is deeply aligned with our company’s values. This position reports to Keren Horn, Program Director, and is a full-time role requiring national travel.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of teaching experience, preferably with high school students.
  • Strong lesson facilitation skills.
  • High energy, enthusiasm, and emotional intelligence.
  • Strong organizational skills and comfort contributing to project management.
  • Flexibility and calm under pressure.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently.
  • Deep alignment with organizations core values.

Responsibilities

  • Lead seven two-day, school-based retreats annually, with additional retreats added each year and co-facilitate a national retreat for teen participants.
  • Travel nationally to partner schools
  • Build authentic, ongoing relationships with students during and between retreats.
  • Create, plan, and facilitate thoughtful, discussion-based learning experiences where teens can explore Jewish identity and Israel.
  • Design programming rooted in Project-Based Learning, Learning by Design, and experiential education.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director to evolve fellowship content over time.
  • Communicate with students between retreats as needed.
  • Serve as a trusted educator and mentor for teen participants.
  • Participate in required training and preparation sessions.
  • Assist with retreat preparation and program logistics.
  • Contribute to project management needs connected to program execution.
  • Availability to support cross-departmental initiatives for Unpacked for Education or ConnectED, including participating in speaking engagements and educational presentations, both in person and via Zoom, as appropriate.
