About The Position

Vanguard Classical School is seeking enthusiastic Education Assistants to join their team of dedicated educators. As an Education Assistant, you will play a vital role in guiding students on their educational journey, supporting teachers in implementing lessons, reinforcing learning concepts, preparing materials, and fostering academic and social-emotional skills. You will also assist in monitoring student progress, supervising students during non-instructional times, encouraging positive social interactions, implementing behavior support, and collaborating with staff and families. Maintaining confidentiality and assisting with clerical tasks are also key aspects of the role. The school emphasizes the transformative power of education and seeks individuals passionate about making a lasting impact.

Requirements

  • Must be able to push, pull, lift 50 pounds, stand and walk for extended periods, and be able to speak to a child at his or her eye level, which may include squatting or sitting on the ground.
  • Occasional handling of field trip, classroom, book, or fundraising money.
  • Daily decisions regarding curriculum implementation.
  • Responsible for maintaining confidentiality regarding all students.
  • Provide documented evidence of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Successful completion of the required criminal background clearance process.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the classroom teacher in implementing daily lessons, learning activities, and small group instruction.
  • Provide individual or small group support to reinforce learning concepts introduced by the teacher.
  • Prepare and organize instructional materials and supplies.
  • Support students by developing academic and social-emotional skills.
  • Assist in monitoring and documenting student progress as directed.
  • Provide active supervision during recess, lunch, and carline to ensure student safety and appropriate behavior.
  • Encourage positive social interactions and conflict-resolution strategies.
  • Implement behavior support as directed by teachers and the administrative team.
  • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, specialists, and administrators to support student learning and well-being.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and personal information.
  • Communicate effectively and positively with students, staff, and families.
  • Assist with clerical tasks such as copying, filing, and organizing materials.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
  • Provide substitute teaching support when appropriate credentials have been obtained and as assigned by administration.
