About The Position

Lakeview Center provides comprehensive behavioral health care to adults and children with mental illnesses, drug and alcohol dependencies and intellectual disabilities. Across Northwest Florida, our services range from residential treatment to outpatient counseling, psychiatry, trauma care, treatments for substance misuse and 24/7 support for those with serious mental illnesses. The Education and Recreation Advisor position at the Short-term Residential Treatment Facility assists the clinical and nursing staff by providing clinical and recreational support to adults who are receiving mental health, substance abuse, or co-occurring services in an inpatient setting. This position is also responsible for planning and organizing engaging activities and psychoeducational groups from conceptualization to the actual execution, including the location, resources, participants, and any limitations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least one (1) year of experience working directly with seriously mentally ill adults or completed one year (24 hours) of college classes.
  • Must be able to provide individualized, integrated mental health, substance abuse, and co-occurring services to meet the needs of individuals served and their families, as required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to pass organization screening requirements, including state or federal background screenings as appropriate.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license from the state in which you reside, a good driving record, and be insurable under the corporate policy.

Responsibilities

  • Establishing and maintaining a positive helping relationship with persons receiving services.
  • Developing curriculum for psychoeducational and recreational groups.
  • Ensuring psychoeducation and recreation groups happen as scheduled on the unit schedule of activities.
  • Assisting persons receiving services to complete activities of daily living, including accessing needed resources, and building functional, pro-social relationships with others.
  • Implementing specific interventions according to the person’s treatment or service plan.
  • Monitoring and documenting the person’s progress.
