About The Position

TelevisaUnivision in Houston is seeking an experienced Editor for its News team. The Editor works with various video formats, coordinates with producers and the control room, and ensures flawless on-air delivery. The role involves editing daily news stories, breaking news, and special reports; finding and organizing content; collaborating on story production; and resolving technical incidents with the Content Management and Engineering team. The position is 100% onsite and may require working various shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Communications or equivalent experience.
At least 2 years of experience in video editing.
Expert knowledge of Avid Media Composer and I-news rundown.
Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills, both written and oral.

Responsibilities

Edit daily news stories, breaking news, and special reports as assigned using non-linear, computer-based editing equipment.
Work with the Content Management and Engineering team on technical incidents, reporting, tracking, and following up until they are resolved.
Find content on feeds to properly edit scripts.
Work with reporters and producers to edit materials to match scripts and provide suggestions on story production.
Search for appropriate archive videos, edit stories, and consolidate videos for archiving after shows.
Fulfill requests from other departments and affiliates.
Work efficiently and in a timely manner to ensure videos go on air on time.
Provide creative ideas for continuous improvement.
