About The Position

Claxton Logistics is hiring an Editor to protect the accuracy of written materials released by Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The editor will work on articles, web content, leadership messages, and staff-authored journal articles and presentations. The position is contingent upon contract award and is full-time, 100% onsite in Bethesda, Maryland. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 0800–1630, with occasional support outside normal duty hours during contingencies or exercises. A Public Trust (Tier 2) background check and CAC are required.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English, or a related field.
At least 5 years of editing, copyediting, or technical writing experience.
Expert knowledge of grammar and AP Style.
Healthcare or military public affairs experience.
Knowledge of HIPAA and protected health information (PHI).
Experience managing a multi-author calendar.
Public Trust (Tier 2) background check and CAC required.
Employment is contingent upon contract award, a favorable background investigation, and verification of education and references.

Nice To Haves

Medical research, policy, or doctrine editing experience.
Department of Defense public release clearance experience.

Responsibilities

Run the editorial calendar.
Fact-check materials with clinicians.
Check each clearance package before it goes to the Public Affairs Officer.
