About The Position

Electrify is a digital media company that invests in and scales creators with established YouTube audiences. Veritasium is a leading channel in its portfolio, producing in-depth physics and science education videos for a curious audience. The company is seeking a freelance Assistant Editor to join its remote production team. The role supports in-house and freelance editors and reports to the in-house Editor. The successful candidate will have experience assisting edits for digital video content, a passion for YouTube and science, and proficiency with video editing software.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience in edit assisting or junior editing, with an emphasis on digital content creation and experience with YouTube.
• Proficiency in Adobe Premiere and Creative Cloud.
• A strong understanding of YouTube and other social media platforms and how to optimise content for those platforms.
• A passion for physics and science.
• Good attention to detail and ability to multitask.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience working with science material.

Responsibilities

• Manage and organise video footage, assets, and archives.
• Organise and label rushes.
• Sync multiple cameras and audio sources into sync maps.
• Assemble timelines at the start of an edit.
• Create short edits for sponsor sections.
• Source B-roll footage.
• Use tools to create transcripts or other reference files to accompany raw footage.
• Work with editors to provide B-roll, insert graphics, and replace placeholders with final A-roll.
• Stay up to date with video editing software and techniques.
