About The Position

Blue Yonder Defense Solutions (BYDS) is seeking a Software Architect with deep expertise in Defense Logistics Management Specifications (DLMS) or enterprise-grade Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) systems to lead the design and modernization of mission-critical logistics integration platforms. This role architects scalable, resilient solutions for complex document exchange, transformation, and orchestration workflows across internal and external partners, including government and defense systems. The position supports a U.S. Department of Defense government project and bridges traditional EDI systems with modern, cloud-native, event-driven platforms. The role is based in Dallas, Texas, and is hybrid with no remote option. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and have an active security clearance or be able to apply for clearance.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in software engineering and design, focused on integration and EDI or DLMS systems, as an architect.
  • Hands-on experience with EDI or DLMS standards such as ANSI X12 or EDIFACT.
  • Coding experience with Java, JavaScript, and SQL.
  • Experience designing and implementing EDI or DLMS processing pipelines and integrations.
  • Strong understanding of message transformation and mapping, transaction lifecycle management, error handling, and reconciliation.
  • Experience with at least one enterprise integration platform, such as MuleSoft, IBM Sterling, or Cleo.
  • Familiarity with a cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Active security clearance or ability to apply for clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience with Defense Logistics Management Standards (DLMS).
  • Experience working with U.S. Department of Defense logistics systems.
  • Familiarity with MILSTRIP/MILSTRAP processes.
  • Familiarity with supply chain and logistics domain models.
  • Experience modernizing legacy EDI platforms.
  • Knowledge of event-driven architecture and streaming platforms such as Apache Kafka.

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead architecture for ELMS/EDI-based integration platforms, establish reference architectures and design standards, and design for scalability, resilience, and maintainability.
  • Architect and support systems aligned with DLMS or equivalent EDI experience; interpret logistics transaction sets, code values, and business rules; and design mappings between DLMS/EDI formats and internal BYDS canonical data models.
  • Design and implement solutions using EDI standards such as ANSI X12 and EDIFACT.
  • Architect transaction validation, acknowledgement, error-handling, reconciliation, batch-processing, and real-time-processing capabilities.
  • Design message-transformation pipelines using mapping engines, canonical data models, and schema-transformation tools.
  • Implement integration patterns such as hub-and-spoke and event-driven integration.
  • Lead modernization of legacy DLMS/EDI systems into cloud-native platforms and enable API-based DLMS/EDI-driven workflows.
  • Define and govern canonical data models for enterprise-wide integration and ensure consistency across DLMS/EDI transactions, APIs, and internal data models.
  • Work with product, engineering, external partners, and government stakeholders.
  • Mentor engineering teams on DLMS/EDI concepts and integration best practices, and participate in design reviews and architectural governance.
